Dear Friends of Conservation:

In a continuing effort to help protect the endangered black rhino and other endangered species, zoo keepers throughout the nation will sponsor the ninth annual National "Bowling For Rhinos" fund raiser. 100% of all proceeds will go directly to support Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) in Kenya, Ujung Kulon National Park in Java, Indonesia and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP) in Sumatra, Indonesia. LWC is a 65 thousand acre sanctuary which not only saves the black rhino but everything from orchids to elephants within the sanctuary. Ujung Kulon is a 300 square mile National Park which is home to the last 47 Javan rhinos in the world! BBSNP is a 3,500 square km lush, lowland, tropical rainforest where sumatran rhino, tigers and Malayan sun bear live. Approximately $150,000 is raised annually during this national bowl-a-thon with $8 -10,000 raised by our local chapter.

The American Association of Zoo keepers (AAZK) expresses its concern over the plight of the rhino by taking action. We hope to raise enough money to save these valuable ecosystems for future generations. The Indianapolis chapter of AAZK will hold its "Bowling For Rhinos" on Saturday, April 25 at 7:00 pm at All Star Bowl (near 10th & Shadeland).
